"Christian Praise!" 2007 took place in Leicester's De Montfort Hall on Tuesday 30 & Wednesday 31 October 2007. Its theme was "May Jesus Christ be Praised!".
Our speakers were Liesl Alexander (Tuesday) and Sandy Millar (Wednesday).
Liesl was brought up by an alcoholic mother in a haunted house, cursed as a baby and handed over to Satan. She was hospitalised after being diagnosed as severely mentally ill, became suicidal and had to be kept in a locked room. After a number of years she escaped and then tried to kill herself again ... but God stepped in, delivered her, gave her peace and changed her life. Liesl is married to James who is vicar of St Andrew's Church, Oakington, near Cambridge. They have two children.
Bishop Sandy Millar was formerly a barrister before training at Cranmer Hall. He joined the staff of Holy Trinity, Brompton in 1976 and became Vicar in 1985. Here he helped pioneer the Alpha course, now running in 35,000 churches of all denominations worldwide. In 2005, he became Priest-in-Charge of St Mark's, Tollington Park, an inner city parish in north London and in the same year was consecrated as an Assistant Bishop. In February 2006 he became an Assistant Bishop of London. He is married to Annette and they have four children.
For the first time, "Christian Praise!" 2007 featured a third night specially dedicated to young people. Transfusion, the youth ministry of "Christian Praise!", welcomes internationally renowned Christian band Delirious?, supported by talented local artist Kristyna Myles. The speaker on this evening was Andy Hawthorne of the Message Trust.
