History

Past

1987 Cotswold Praise. Anne Linstrum is invited to sing at an evening meeting in Chipping Camden Grammar School attended by Leicester evangelical churches after a day’s outing to Bourton on the Water and the Cotswolds.
1988 First Christian Praise attended by approximately 300 from six evangelical churches in the city (including Melbourne Hall EFC, Oadby EFC, Knighton EFC, Carley EBC) held at Wyggeston Collegiate. No choir, just one keyboard player from Breedon on the Hill who had played at Cotswold Praise.
1991 “Christian Praise!” moves to Aylestone Leisure Centre.
1993 “Christian Praise!” moves to De Montfort Hall.
1994 No “Christian Praise!” due to De Montfort Hall refurbishment.
1995 In February the postponed 1994 “Christian Praise!” took place. October saw a change from one to two nights.
1996 “Christian Praise!” goes nationwide on ITV’s Morning Worship with J John.
2000 “Millennium Praise!” was held on Victoria Park. A courier system of sending out publicity material to Church Representatives was introduced.
2007 “Christian Praise!” included a third night with Delirious. In December Mark Dowling becomes Chairman with Mike Howitt becoming President.
2008 “Christian Praise!” uses local speakers – Rodney Green, former Chief Executive of Leicester City Council and Matt Baggott, Chief Constable of Leicestershire Constabulary.
2009 Mark Dowling stands down as Chairman due to work relocation.
2011 There was no “Christian Praise!” this year to facilitate its move to a Spring event. More details can be found on this website at “Christian Praise!” 2012.
After a number of changes in the Leadership Team Paul Hames is now Chairman.
2012 As an experiment, “Christian Praise!” moved to mid-May also changing to Sunday and having both an afternoon and evening event.
2013 This was a sabbatical year.
2014 “Christian Praise!” Is back with a new venue, new date, new logo, new ticket price and the new name of “Christmas Praise!” (Only used if the event is in December)

Present

2016 Another new venue:
All Nations Church Leicester, which will include an afternoon meeting at 2.15 on Wednesday.

Future

2017 We trust in God for the days ahead.
